Art & Music

One of Marc's favorite shows right now is "Little Einsteins". Each episode features a piece of art and music. For instance, the one he watched this morning featured "Pool in the Woods" by George Inness and Orchestral Suite Number 2 in B Minor by Bach.

It was an episode he'd never seen before, but when the beginning came on and they showed what art and music was being featured, he said "I don't want to watch little totem pole!". I told him that it was a new episode, but he insisted that it was an episode he didn't want to watch. Once he started, he realized it was new. But later on, I realized that they'd used the same piece of music in the episode about totem poles that he'd seen a few weeks before.

I was very surprised at his memory for a piece of music! And to be able to match it with which episode it went with.

I like the fact that the show exposes kids to art and music that aren't considered "kids stuff". They also don't only use European art. They've used totem poles, aboriginal art, Japanese artists, as well as the European artists you'd expect.

I've even caught him humming bits of classical music to himself. :)
