We had out micro Xmas here at home tonight, because we leave tomorrow for Idaho, via Las Vegas. Should take about 15 hours of driving to get us there.

We decided to drive so that we would not have to leave the dogs behind, although we are renting a car rather than putying 2,000 miles on our aging buggy. We'll pick it up in the morning and head out after I get home from a half-day at CSUN (thanks, Gov!).

Santa brought the projector early this year, so except for a trio of game boxes on the mantle (not quite small enough to fit in stockings) there were no boxes to open tonight. But that's okay -- we didn't even get a tree or put up lights this year.

Besides the games (Goa, Medici, Alhambra) there were socks, DVDs (including the full set of Sharpe for Shelley), a book proxy :-), candy, more candy, even more (maple) candy, scones and cream, a camera memory card, and gift cards for Lowe's and Krispy Kreme. Good stuff, and thanks to all!

Tomorrow's drive does not excite me, but we've prepared for it by burning a large number of DVDs from TiVo as well as renting a few from Netflix. Whoever's not driving can watch them (on the computer or portable DVD player) and the other can listen. We've selected titles of interest for only one person, so there's no tempation to peek at the screen while driving.

Internet access in Idaho will probably be extremely limited, if even possible, so more on or about the 30th.
