We found the South Beach Diet unenjoyable, inconvenient, and expensive. Although we found enough variety to eat during the past couple of weeks, the lack of our normal staple foods did not endear us to this approach. Continuing with such limitations, albeit less of them, as that diet calls for, isn't making us happy.

We had to spend quite a bit more in meats making up for normal cheap carbs and I, at least, had go out of the way to obtain breakfast from a dining location and wait for it to be cooked before work. I far prefer to make some nice wheat-and-almond bread and have a chunk of that first thing than the scrambled eggs or omelets of the past two weeks.

We were already on track to cut down as much as feasible on less-than-good foods like white bread, plain pasta, and white rice. Substituting whole-grain foods for them should not be too hard. Simply eating less is more appealing to us and that's our new plan for a while.
