Well, that was disappointing.

Local election results were mixed. I get to spend more time with a congressman I despise (JD Hayworth) who was magically made our incumbant by redistricting two years ago. A state proposition dealing with illegal immigration with the horrifying name "Protect Arizona Now" passed in all but four counties. Let's try real reform instead of forcing state employees to become informants, people. Sigh. On the other hand, the county voted to continue a tax to improve mass transit. Yay! And by an overwhelming 76% of the voters, a bond was approved to give almost $1 billion to my community college district over 10 years to improve facilities and such. Yay! I just find the dichotomy fascinating. One proposition seeks to punish the desperate, whereas the other two benefit the lives of the poor - all voted on by the same people.

With the bond passing, it's hard to believe that our department was so morose these past few days. I'm not looking forward to another four years under the Bush regime. I found myself putting an arm around a student last night to keep him from going after a vocal pro-Bush student who was intentionally baiting other students. Bush won Arizona with 55% of the vote - not an overwhelming majority, say as in Utah. There are some angry and bewildered people here, too.

So I find myself asking what I'm going to do next. I feel I have to be more aggressive somehow. This is a sentiment I've seen expressed elsewhere. I've written letters, I contribute to causes - hell, I signed that first "tax break" check over to Planned Parenthood in Bush's name. Any advice as to where I can vent my frustrations for the greater good?

For now, I've decided to deal with my frustration in a more immediate fashion by watching the "Revenge of the Sith" teaser trailer over and over and over again. I'm thinking there is something more productive I could be doing.
