My Sunday started off in Amarillo, Texas, a place with hotel clerks named Bliss, 72-oz steaks, and complimentary breakfasts of eggs, biscuits and gravy. I headed east on I-40 through the haze I always associate with Texas in the morning. The landscape was too flat - it disturbed me. The horizon was alleviated only by silos and then the largest cross in the Western Hemisphere. (No, I didn't take a photo - it was just a huge white cross, not a nice gory crucifix.) As I entered Oklahoma, the ground gained more texture and soon became green rolling hills. In Oklahoma City, I caught I-35 north, headed towards Kansas. Kansas was lovely - felt like home, although my home never looked like that. More green rolling hills, incredibly lush, dotted with cows and trees. Passed into Missouri, which reminded me a lot of upstate New York. Spent more time in Iowa than I expected - either the state is bigger than I thought, or it was on account of the 65 mph speed limit. Aiiee! Now I'm in a nice hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Still haven't seen Minnesota - got into the state after dark. Beautiful sky, though - I could see Castor, Pollux, and Saturn all hanging out together, but at a different angle than I'm used to, telling me I'm somewhere different, but that all is still well with the universe.

And that was my Sunday drive. Fueled by peanut M&Ms and Nine Inch Nails. Six states, sixteen hours, 1042 miles I'd never seen before.. My Sunday kicked your Sunday's ass.
