the dog, she snores

I went to bed at 9:30 p.m., exhausted from a long day of programming and the usual life necessities. I constantly remind myself I'm not taking these classes to become a programmer; indeed, I'd be a horrible one. No one would ever hire me to be a programmer, and I am not complaining. I am taking these classes only so I can read code and document it. So far the reading and documenting is definitely feasible.

In any event, tonight I went to bed, exhausted, and fell right to sleep.

And then, at 11:30 p.m., Katie Finn, the dog, decided to wake me up so she could carouse the neighborhood. This isn't a regular event, per se, and when she wants to go outside, she usually needs to go outside. So I got out of bed, put my shoes and a jacket on, and put Katie's leash on her. We had a lovely late night walk under the Northern California late April stars, and then we came home.

And...

See, now this is the problem. And I'm sure that if Katie was aware this was a problem, there would no longer be a problem. However, if I'm woken in the middle of the night, it usually takes me hours to get back to sleep. It didn't used to be this way, but it's been the case since February of 2008.

So, it's 1:19 a.m. and I'm awake on the couch, hoping I can sleep again soon while Katie is curled up against me on the couch, snoring.

I wonder if I can get away with sleeping in tomorrow?
