Well, I woke up decidedly on the wrong side of the bed today, as everyone in my household (pets included) will attest. I went to bed at 9:30 last night, and still, when the alarm went off at 6:45, I felt like a train wreck. And when I'm tired for long periods of time, things start to irritate me. Like dirty dishes. And the fact that we have no clean socks. (Socks are a perpetual problem in our house; we've got one Sock Stash that everyone draws from, but somehow, the dirty socks don't seem to make it to the laundry basket at the same rate at which they come out of the drawer . . . and, too, the dog eats a fair few of them, I must note.) It just seems like I will never be rested, never be on top of things, at least not until next May . . .

*sigh*

Then I got to work and saw a sign for some workshop on Saturday called "Youth, Conscience, and the Military," talking about all kinds of war-related things. Which fueled my constant low-level draft panic into a blaze again.

I decided that I had to do something to clear the cobwebs and calm myself down, so I took my folding bike (which lives in my office now, for just these occasions) out for a short (30-40 minute) spin around the River Trail. Went around through the neighborhoods adjacent to the Turner-Dodge Mansion. They're really nice! I had no idea.

Not much to report from Old Town. There's a cheesecake store, a small deli, some artists' studios, condos, the usual. I was thinking of getting a box lunch to go from the deli (it's not even close to lunchtime yet). I didn't - but I have to remember to do so another day; I'm all for this urban renewal and want to support it.

And I feel much, much better for having gotten the blood pumping a bit. Tonight after my class ends at 4:00, I have a teaching seminar to attend from 4-6, so I'll not get home until after 7. The kids and I will order Chinese food (Emil's off playing tennis tonight), and by the time it arrives and we eat, I'll be ready for bed, so this was my only exercise window for the day . . .

And now I feel ready to tackle the class prep and the papers.
