Lots going on here. I've just finished up the semester today (in very satisfying fashion; our faculty development day centered around using the cameras that I'd gotten with that grant last year), and am planning to relax and catch up with Ann Arbor friends tomorrow. Then Friday it's off to Lansing to do some work and look at houses. Saturday we go to Youngstown, returning on Sunday, and then on Monday I'm off to Texas for the week. There are a lot of balls in the air around here at the moment . . . or perhaps I should say that life is unfolding, and it's a bit too early to say much about what it's unfolding into.

When I get back it will be Memorial Day and birthdays and the beginning of summer. Steph and Patrick will be here from England, and we're planning a picnic; I hope the weather cooperates . . .

And then I'll start a part-time gig here in town, working for the University. I'm very much looking forward to this for many reasons, the most banal of which are: [a] I get my uniqname back :) [b] I might get database access.

My interview for this position was delightful - so much fun, actually, that I thought it was worth having had even if I didn't get the job. (Yes, I know how weird that sounds.) So I'm expecting to enjoy myself. Whether I will find the job as enjoyable as lying by the pool reading novels, well . . .

But for now my horizon extends no further than next week, when I'll be in Texas visiting Clarence and Susan (Yay! Please tell Kate that I never, ever, EVER forget my bathing suit) and then off to a Fun Conference, and back for a picnic . . . that certainly sounds like a vacation to me. I can't wait.
