Well, this afternoon I'm calling the realtor and we are finally going to list the house. This is unnerving. Aside from the not-wanting-to-go aspect, there's also the worry that the house won't sell. There are two other similarly-sized houses on the street, and as far as I can tell, they're not even getting any nibbles.

Of course, I don't know whether I want the house to sell or not. If it doesn't, the financial picture won't be too pretty. But then again, if we get those lemons, the lemonade is that we have a place to stay in Ann Arbor should we want to come down from time to time . . . That's an expensive proposition, and of course we're not planning on that happening . . . but still.

Emma is getting very nervous about the move. I can certainly see her point; she's lived here all her life, more or less - all the part she really remembers, anyway. I do think this could be a very good thing for her, but between now and the time she realizes it's a good thing, we're going to be doing lots of hand-holding and comforting. I'm going to get everything set up so that she can take classes in the fall. She still needs her GED, but she also needs something to do when we get to Lansing, and the sooner, the better. (She agrees with me.)

It does feel like we're in the final push, here. We close on the new house in a month. It will be nice to be settled . . . I've felt unsettled for what seems like forever. This year, we had Emil's father die and Emil lose a job; last year I was new at LCC and there were other upsetting things going on; the year before Jackie died . . . Seems like I keep looking forward to "next year," but lately, each one is more stressful than the last. I'm kind of leery of looking forward to next summer . . . this summer was supposed to be the relaxing one!

Ah, well, Fortuna's wheel keeps spinning, and we're due for a change in the wind . . .
