Well, it's about 85 degrees outside, partly cloudy, and breezy. Perfect day to spend lying about the pool reading novels. Alas and alack, though, I'm sitting in the back yard grading papers from my online class. Given that I have to grade these papers, the back yard is a nice venue in which to do it, but still.

My Summer Job is turning out to be very interesting but also very time- and energy-consuming. I hope things will mellow out a bit so that I can take advantage of some of the perks (from my point of view) of the program. The two biggest: A tour of the Jiffy Mix factory and a Toledo Mud Hens game. (I might skip out on the Mud Hens, since they never play the Lugnuts . . . ) Nonetheless, the students are delightful - very bright and full of energy, and they remind me of my time as an exchange student in Australia. They're just thrilled to be here embarking on this terrific adventure . . . I remember how that felt.

I'm enjoying riding my bike to work, although I am dismayed to realize how out of shape I've gotten. My legs are pretty sore, even with that paltry mileage. I'm glad I have the opportunity to work myself back up to a longer commute before fall rolls around.

Now that A Decision Has Been Made about where we'll be living, we're all moving forward. The brunt of the work involved with getting the house ready to sell has fallen on Emil, and he's been making good progress. We think we'll list it next week some time. (The biggest barrier, imho, is my desire not to see a For Sale sign out front . . . ) Chas has started the wheels turning to enroll at LCC, and Emma seems to be coming to terms with moving.

So despite the lack of leisure time, things are going pretty well lately.

I better get back to that grading . . .
