I got into a discussion with Steph and Richard about opera yesterday and today, and Stephanie recommended two "starter" books for me, both of which I managed to get this afternoon - one from the East Lansing Library (The Oxford Companion . . . ) and one from the Capital Area District Library (When the Fat Lady Sings - with an intro by Anna Russell). How instantly gratifying!

(Now, it's quite likely the A2 library would have those books, too - but I bet they'd be checked out! ;) )

I'm working very hard this weekend - break starts in a few days, and I want to get caught up so I can read those books. So in lieu of anything longer, I'm sending along a few pix.

Kathy and Richard gave us some tulips-in-a-jar a few weeks ago when they came over to dinner. Here's how the tulips looked yesterday morning:
