Well, I turned my cell phone over to Emma and canceled her line - so I am officially sans cell phone now . . . If you want to reach me, send email or call the house. (If you need the house number, holler.)

Funny; last year I told my former boss at the UM College of Pharmacy that I was going to move to Lansing and cancel my cell phone, and he looked at me like I had lost my mind - like I was contemplating going completely off the grid and living on nuts and berries, or something. And I must admit that cell phones strike me as one of those signs of capitalism run amok . . . they're convenient, but technologically inferior to their predecessors and the pricing structure makes them a lot more expensive. It also strikes me that they add a layer of "noise" to my life; I don't like being within cell phone reach all of the time.

So I've been looking forward to canceling my cell phone for a while now; I'm curious to see what difference it makes. I've got a very place-based existence these days, so it will probably make very little difference at all.

Stay tuned . . .
