Yes, the Red Wings have won their 11th Stanley Cup. Yes, we were excited. (I even got me a little Red Wings flag for my kayak.) (Have I mentioned my kayak yet?) It was glorious watching them win because we've watched them play all season, and knew just how good they are (at least in the Western Conference). The final matchup with Pittsburgh was much-anticipated everywhere, since the Penguins are an amazing rags-to-riches story. Around here, we were looking forward to it because [a] the Pens are Emil's second-favorite team (mine's the Habs. Heck, they might be my first.), and [b] they play a very similar style to the Red Wings - puck control rather than bashing people up all the time, and [c] penguins are so cute.
