We had our last officer's meeting last night. It was the night that I had been looking forward to, and dreading at the same time. On the one hand, I'm probably going to have a lot more free time now (although I'm sure I'll find some other venture to occupy my time), but it's kind of weird handing over the reins to someone else.

There was a point in the meeting last night when Brittany asked Rochelle if the FMLA was going to get a storage unit, and Rochelle just shrugged her shoulders and said, "If YOU want to." Rochelle and I kind of laughed about it, because I think it finally hit home that it's now someone elses car to drive. We borrowed it for a year, and are now passing on the keys to someone else. We hope we left it in good shape.

The Officer meetings really were my favorite part of the FMLA this year. It was a lot of fun sitting in a room with 7 other people and just hashing through ideas. Someone would throw out an idea, and we'd take that person's idea to the nth degree. It was a think tank, pure and simple. It was a place where Sommer could come in and say that she wanted to do a Voter Drive rock festival, or where Sarah Gorena could say that she wanted to do a Battered Women's Day Camp, or Rochelle could say that she wanted to do a Reproductive Rights Fair, and it somehow all came together.

The only thing I can wish for next year is for the new batch of Officers to be as dedicated as they were this year. It may be a tall order, but I've grown accostomed to expecting daily miracles. I wish them luck.
