The Texas Longhorns just won their 6th NCAA College World Series title.

Let's see...

San Antonio Spurs--you can practically see the SBC Center from I-35.

The University of Texas Longhorns--you can literally throw a baseball from I-35 and hit UT.

Is there another I-35 victory in the cards somewhere?

Perhaps the Texas Rangers go on a hot streak and make a run. If history serves, they'll fade heavily under the 100 degree August weather, and never really be in contention.

Perhaps the Dallas Cowboys have all the necessary pieces to overtake those assholes in Philadelphia. They weren't as bad as their record showed last year, but I'm not sure they have the parts necessary to give anyone a run for their money. But I'll NEVER bet against the Cowboys. That'd be like me reprogramming my radio from Air America to the Rush Limbaugh show. The thought almost gives me the heebie jeebies.

Maybe the Mavericks are all set for a run next year. The American Airlines Center is within a half-court three of I-35. They're the closest of all the Dallas teams to winning a championship, but they still need to shore up their defense. But I expect great things from Avery Johnson and staff. He's a natural born winner. The future looks aight with them.

But of course, maybe the championship run will take a right on 290, and head over to Houston.

:-(

Sadly, the Houston Astros are so far out of contention that it would take a miracle for them to come back.

My Houston Rockets look like they are a piece or two away from making a run, but it looks like the NBA title will probably go through San Antonio and Phoenix for years to come, so their mountain is indeed steep and perilous.

My Houston Texans look like they could be up for a run of not only the division, but for the AFC championship. They're still incredibly young however, so they may need another season or two before they're ready to take down New England or the Colts.

Time will tell. :-)

matt out
