I love Halloween. It's always been one of my favorite holidays. It's one of those holidays where even if you aren't participating in Halloween themed festivities, you still feel that twinge of nostalgia for all the times you dressed up as a child.

Plus, I'm a big fan of scary movies so this is like Oscar season for me.

I don't have a meme prepared, so let me do this right quick:

Favorite Halloween Candy - Candy corn and the candy corn pumpkins (sorry Reverendmother). I also dig on any candy bar that comes in Halloween basket bite size form, 3 Musketeers in particular.

Favorite Halloween Costume - The only costumes I remember from childhood are Superman and a Ghostbuster costume that my wonderful WASP of a mom made from scratch. I was a Ghostbuster and my younger brother was a ghost, only sometimes his white sheeted ghost costume looked more klansy than ghostly spectre. I also have fond memories of stuffing Houston grown Spanish Moss into the sleeves of a borrowed flannel shirt and going as a scarecrow. There's no flannel softer than a dad's flannel. It's scientifically true.

Favorite Halloween Song - Sadly, there aren't too many good Halloween songs. I guess "Thriller" is probably the best of the best, but the soundtrack to the appropriately titled "Halloween" movie is also pretty scary.

Favorite Halloween Movie - Too many to name. "Friday the 13th," and "Nightmare on Elm Street" are pretty good. But for Halloween, I prefer to go with either John Carpenter's "Halloween" or George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead." I have a semi-tradition of watching "Night of the Living Dead" either on, or around, the Halloween holiday. Only I have to watch it with the lights out.

SPOOKY! ;-)
