Thoughts on the Spurs vs. Jazz Western Conference Finals

I'm not sure what to make of this Utah vs. Spurs series. While the first three games were substantial blowouts (two for SA and one for Utah), this last game seemed to be a lot more evenly matched game. Game four was a relatively close game until late in the fourth quarter. A win's a win no matter how the Spurs get it, but I'm not so certain that everything is as locked up as it seems. 3 to 1 series leads rarely turn into series chokes, but this Utah team has played pretty incredible basketball at times, so I won't feel safe until this one's securely in the bag. I know I just typed that Utah has played some incredible basketball, but I need to correct that: Boozer and Williams have played incredible basketball, the rest of the Jazz have yet to really show up in any meaningful way.

I am nothing but impressed with Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams. People compare them to Stockton and Malone, and it's a fair comparison, but when it's all said and done, I think Boozer and Williams are going to be better than Stockton and Malone. Truth be told, I wouldn't be surprised to see Deron Williams end up better than Steve Nash. There are times when it seems like Williams and Boozer NEVER miss. If Utah adds a piece or two, they could turn into one of those teams that's strong for quite a while.

But for now, the Spurs seem to be too much for Utah. What's frustrating to me is that when Ginobili is on his game, the Spurs are nearly impossible to beat. So I get a bit frustrated that he seems to pick and choose when to turn it on. I know "turning it on" may be easier said than done, but if anyone's capable of flipping that switch, it's Manu.

While I'm on Manu, can I just straight up say that there's too much flopping going on between both teams. It seems that both teams spend more time flopping and looking for the call than just playing tough, physical basketball. Ginobili flops. Derek Fisher flops. Everyone's flopping.

And one more Manu comment: I *love* that he's so despised by opposing teams' fans. Don't you know that booing Ginobili only gives him his magical powers? The man cut his teeth on international courts ranging from Argentina to Europe, aka places where fans TRULY hate one another because of centuries of inter-country conflict. Trust me when I say that he can take anything the white bread fans in Utah throw his way.

I know there's a bit of a controversy about the officiating in last night's game. To any Utah Jazz fan who may stumble upon this post, I can assure you that Spurs fans had the same complaints about the officiating from game 3 that you had for last night's game. Let's just hope tomorrow's game is evenly called for both teams.
