I've been trying to keep my posts to a lean one-per-day rate, but I have to break that to talk about how utterly pissed I am that Heath Ledger passed away. I usually don't get too into the whole being upset about young actors/actresses dying young thing, but Heath Ledger was one of this generation's most promising young actors.

When he first broke on the scene, I thought he was just another pretty boy actor who was getting by more on his looks than his talent. But then "Brokeback Mountain" happened and that perception was flung completely out the window. Ever since that movie, I've grown to be a Heath Ledger fan. His take on Ennis Del Mar was pitch perfect.

And then seeing his take on Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There" completely sold the deal. I knew when I saw that movie that he was one of those actors that deserved to be paid attention to.

We still have his final take on the Joker to look forward to, but after that, it's all over. Why do so many truly great artists die young?
