Must... write... something... besides... journal entries...

Man oh man it took me forever to get started today! I think I just had so much stuff to get through and get caught up on, not the least of which was reading everyone's Con Reports. Of course you know, we all read these things to see where our names show up and see what people say about us. At least that's why I do it!

So today was strangely busy in a non-productive kind of way. I blame it on sleeping late -- to almost 7 a.m.! Must get up early tomorrow, at the usual 5 a.m. I was given a reprieve on the 3:30 a.m. "training" for the paper route -- I don't start 'til Monday, due to the end of the pay period. So I'm off the hook a few more days.

Slight stress today as I realized I don't have a paycheck coming in for another week and a half, and that one only for one week. How nice it would be to get my checks and contracts for the 4 stories I've sold in the past few months... Sigh. The wheels of publishing, they turn mightily slow. But they'll come when we really need it.

So once I finally buckled down, at about 7 p.m. tonight (spent time messing with my syllabus for the class starting Monday night, and also messing with a variety of short stories I want to whip into shape and mail out, so I can reach 2 dozen submissions!), I was able to FINISH the space mercenaries story. Yeehaw!!!

Except, well, they're not really space mercs, and the story is sooo rough, I can barely claim it's done. But it's close. The new title is "Old Earth Remainders," which I sorta like. I'm sending it out to some readers, and hope to send it on to an editor by Saturday or Monday.

Tomorrow is syllabus day for me, as I finish my Intro to Fiction syllabus and jam on the Spec Fic syllabus. Both should be done by Friday, then it's back to the Wannoshay novel (with a stop here and there for a collab with a writer friend -- I get the leadoff spot!). Busy Busy Busy! Later!

Now Playing:
Pearl Jam, live; "Songs From An American Movie," Everclear

Now Reading:
Way too many Con Reports!

Today's Words:
1,300

Today's Quote:
As the last human remaining on Old Earth, Jaret Lazarus knew he wasn't much repayment for the creatures the Bob had killed, but he had nowhere else to go. He turned back to the caves to make amends for the damage his squadron had done to the remainders. If he was brave, he'd turn off his suit and let himself burn up in the angry sun, but Jaret wasn't brave, so he kept walking toward the caves. It wasn't how he had planned the mission to work out, but the outcome, after all, was the same.
