What DAY is it???

Today was sort of a crazy day. I ended up hanging out with my 2-year-old nephew for most of the day, talking shop and critiquing fiction with him. You know, talking about the hidden meaning behind Clifford the Dog (that's a big ol' dog) and analyzing Blue's Clues to make sure we had indeed gotten all of the clues. It was fun.

And draining! Now I know why we don't have kids! Maybe someday, I keep telling myself. Maybe...

Elizabeth's sister and her husband had to visit the doctor today, so I volunteered to help watch my nephew, Parker. The kicker is that I was just getting some good writing done, but I didn't mind doing some babysitting. I took the laptop along, thinking I'd write while Parker napped.

And I sorta got some stuff done. I actually got into the Wannoshay novel again (after messing some more with the romance novel all morning, getting chapter one up to 1,400 words, most of them good). It's so amazing when the words start flowing, and you realize, as a writer, that you've entered into the scene, emotionally, and you really don't want to leave. That's when the story or novel pretty much starts writing itself. And I left off at a very nice stopping point, one in which I can dive back in tomorrow and maybe finish off that darned elusive chapter 16 and maybe even finish off Part 2.

In other news, over in Greg's discussion board, it looks like I missed out on a good chat about SF versus fantasy. I really had nothing more to add, but it looked like a fun chat. It's good seeing members of the posse still chatting. Later!

Now Playing:
"Riviera," Big Head Todd & the Monsters; "Bloodflowers," The Cure

Today's Words:

Today's Quote:
Five bent and white-haired aliens stood at what must have been the front entrance to the ship. Even from this distance, Skin could see that there was something different about the three eyes of each of the aliens.
