Writer Stuff...

Good day! I'm enjoying my writerly lifestyle thus far today. Not only did I whizz through my route this morning, finishing up in record time, by 5:30 a.m. (the paper is much smaller on Mondays, and only comes in one piece, while on Sundays it can be two, or like yesterday, three big pieces!). I'd told myself that the first day I finished my route before 6 a.m. that I'd stop at Daylight Donuts and treat myself to like a bear claw or something and a big cup o' joe, but they weren't even open yet! How 'bout that for irony?

So I came home ahead of the rain and got some coffee and checked out my story up at Strange Horizons and gave a litle smile. Damn, but it's cool seeing my stuff in print.

And there were some nifty details that I'd forgotten I'd written, like the snippet they use as an excerpt on the site: "Nobody from the Netstreams had been able to get closer than this, and the airspace around all thirty landing sites had been restricted since the arrival of the ships in November." Look at me writing about air space and stuff, like I know what I'm talking about! ;)

I also got my proofs for "Goddamn Redneck Surfer Zombies from the Book of More Flesh editor, and sent them back. He had some fine comments and suggestions, and the story's even better due to his help. Look for the antho this Halloween. I can't wait.

As for my current projects, I'm finishing up chapter one of the romance novel this week so I can send it to the contest by month's end. Did you know that this has become a romance trilogy? Yep. Elizabeth got ahold of it and helped me outline the next two books. Well, actually, she came up with the ideas and I just transcribed! Now I have at least six characters to use throughout all three books. Should be fun.

Tomorrow I hope to get done with the first draft of the chapter and work on the outline. Today's going to be busy -- I have a 4 p.m. meeting for a new part-time job doing English as a Second Language stuff, then my 7-9:30 class for Intro Fiction. Later.

Now Reading:
Selected Stories of Philip K. Dick

Now Playing:
"Just Say Da," various artists
