Good (Writing) Morning

Another chapter is done! Finished chapter 20 today, with only four to go. And I really, really like the scene in this one with Father Joshua talking to the three surviving alien "Elders." We learn the truth behind why the aliens came to Earth, but the Elders have become unreliable, so who knows if the story they tell Joshua is true or not?

I like adding ambiguous things like this to the novel. While it's a bit too painfully reminiscent of how our own government treats us -- hiding the truth or telling us only enough to string us along -- I think it fits into the story I'm trying to tell here.

Now I'm off to work out and put up some flyers this afternoon to try and drum up some business for my UnWrecked Fiction critiquing and editing services. Know anyone who may be interested in this? Send them my way.

Got to make money in some way while I'm job-hunting... Might as well do it in a fun way, by reading and commenting on fiction. Later!

Today's Quote:
Sitting in the first two pews were the three Elders, leaning close enough for their heads to touch. They sang lowly in their lilting language, barely loud enough for Joshua to hear them. The white walls of the chapel seemed to shine with the sunlight combined with the power of the Elders as Joshua walked closer to them.

Johndo was the first to look up, his three black eyes wide as he took in Joshua.

For an instant, Johndo’s oval-shaped face and quivering hair-tentacles took Joshua back. His gray skin was mottled a light pink color, and his lipless mouth had disappeared as he stared at Joshua. Stopping in mid-stride, Joshua waited for Johndo to condemn him for interrupting him and his fellow Elders for the second time in less than a day.
