A quick one.

Just a quick note to log my latest writing attempts (it's been a while, it seems like, thanks to the marathon novel-revising of last week). I'm doing a couple different things, trying to finish up two collaborations and get back on track with the Blackbeard novel, but I got distracted by baseball.

I've had this idea for almost 2 1/2 years, and it's a historical fantasy baseball idea. I'm writing it as a story that may become a novel later, depending on how the story comes out. I spent a good chunk of yesterday reading baseball stories and getting inspired, and mapped out most of my story afterwards.

And then I got up this morning and did a little surfing and then actually got some writing done on it!

Now I'm off to work -- day one of the new job. Wish me luck! Later.

Today's Quote:
In a darkly ironic twist, Coach Worrell’s death led to a string of wins in the next few weeks, and by June the team had won thirty games and lost only three. Despite not having a home stadium and traveling to each game, sometimes for hours on the rickety team bus, the All-Nations were having their best season on record. Mack the centerfielder was batting close to .500, while Donaldson had been averaging a dozen strikeouts each start. And Bullet-Joe and Carrie Nation were an unstoppable force at short and second.
