Day 29 -- 40,000 words later -- A Draft is Done.

Well, with a day to spare, I finished up the first draft of my paranormal romance, Heart's Revenge!!! Yeehaw and Yahoo!

Whew. I think I pulled everything together pretty nicely, and I'm quite happy with the big action scene. I have some revising to do, and I really need to play up the details of my two protagonist's romance, but I think it's all there. And I'm close to my final first-draft wordcount -- I'm right at 70,000 words.

Oh, and I plan on taking a look at the first 3 chapters again tomorrow and revising those a bit, now that the story's done. I think my characters may have changed a bit more since that time, or, actually, I've just gotten to know them better since that time. :)

This was worth getting up at 4:30 a.m. for!!! Whew.

Today's Quote:
As they ate, Ella looked at Mitch’s family around him, from his father and Melissa at the table as well as his buddy Ben in the restaurant, seating yet another group of tourists. Everything felt right, as if all the pieces of the puzzle of her life had finally fit together.

Tomorrow was Monday, Ella knew. She’d have to get back to reality then, and no longer suspend her disbelief.

But it would be okay, she decided as her gaze came to rest on Mitch once more. I just have to trust my instincts. It’s okay to never really know for sure about everything in life.

“But starting tomorrow,” she told Mitch, her new partner. “We’ve got work to do.”

Yes, Ella decided. I could definitely get used to life on Ocracoke, as long as I have Mitch at my side.
