Pregnancy Update 4: The First Twigs in Our Nest

It's been a while since I gave an update. Right now, the big news is my tall, slender wife officially has a Pot Belly.

It's quite cute, and I'm sure she's gonna kill me for talking about it here. She can barely suck in her gut any more! And why would she want to. I think she looks lovely.

The baby is over four inches long now. Manoman! The kid is growing like a weed, I swear. Elizabeth has a doctor's appointment next week, and I hope to slip away from work to hear the Jasperito's heartbeat.

Elizabeth is more or less over the nausea phase, we hope, though she occasionally has a relapse into nausea, and just a week ago she had a near-barfing incident in the bathroom at Whole Foods. The streak came a couple spits away from bring broken, my friends! We know now to stay away from pork, salty sauces like spaghetti and that Manwich crap (yeah, I know, we shoulda known better, right?), and please don't talk about peanuts around Lizzie if you want to stay on her good side.

We're right at 14 weeks, and the little one now has a "well-defined neck" (whew!) and his or her sex can be "distinguishable externally." Woo-woo! We're 1/3 of the way there.

And I've got a baby room to paint and some blinds to install. The baby room is taking shape, now that we have the first "twigs" in the nest -- a crib and cradle lent to us from my bro and sis-in-law. It's all getting really... real, now. And I'm feeling very excited about it all, and surprisingly calm. For now... Later!
