Got your shorts on?

Not a bad morning -- got up at 4:30, brewed some coffee, and... wrote two stories!

Okay, so they were two short-shorts, the longest of the two 500 words, but I had a lot of fun writing them. Just like my novel blog, there's something freeing (is that a word) and challenging about writing spontaneously. The words and ideas just sort of pop out, and you roll with it and see where the story takes you. It's always an adventure.

The two stories I wrote were for two different contests/challenges set up on the journals of two different writers (who also do a good bit of editor work), Kealan-Patrick Burke and Brett Savory. They're even paying for the winning stories.

The very cool thing about both contests is that you get to read ALL the stories submitted, via their journals' comments sections. So go read the stories and see which ones you'd pick as the winner. Look for stories by some guy with the "Unwrecked" handle. Happy reading! Later...

UPDATE: And I almost forgot all about Paul Tremblay's one-word short-short-short contest!!! (You may not be able to see this, as it's friends-locked.)
