Pregnancy Update 12: Slowly Going Cuckoo...

So, yeah, it's another Monday. The weekend was lovely, though surprisingly busy. Elizabeth is still pregnant.

We're both getting antsy for the youngster to arrive, even though we know it's mostly out of our control. Elizabeth tried to speed things along on Saturday, as we went for about a 3-4 mile hike with our friend Clarke and Whit the Wonder Pup. Not bad when you can do a good hourlong hike while 39.5 weeks pregnant! She also went to get her "toes done" -- she and Clarke got a pedicure (I skipped out on that). Apparently, getting a pedicure is the thing to do -- something about foot-rubbing that gets the old labor juices flowing...

We've pretty much got everything done that needs to be done for the baby's arrival, so now we just get to hurry up and wait. Crazy. I haven't been able to focus much on my novel revisions (it doesn't help that I'm waiting to hear back on my Wannoshay novel as well, along with a couple reviews of my story collection), so I've been slowly going nuts. Did I mention I hate waiting???

Just to stay productive and sane, I picked up the novel blog for Dead Man's Rope again, and things are getting really weird in that new storyline -- go check it out!

Luckily there are books to read. Thanks to Rachel's suggestion, we've both been reading Dr. Karp's The Happiest Baby on the Block, which has some excellent tips for keeping your baby happy. I'm also reading KJ Bishop's Etched City, another novel I started a while ago and never finished. The first chapter is quite good. At this rate I should be through my To-Read pile in a year or two...

And so, we wait. I'm looking forward to taking a couple weeks off work, helping out with the young one, but more than anything, I want him to BE HERE! It's no fair that Elizabeth has gotten to hang out with him 24x7 for the past 39.5 weeks. I want my turn, man!

Maybe we'll have to do the last-straw thing and go downtown to eat the infamous Eggplant Parmesan at Amedeo's Italian Restaurant. Apparently that dish has pushed many a fine lady into labor. Why that is, I dunno. But I'm getting my stomach on for some Italian food. And soon! Later...
