"I opened his eyes as wide as he could..."

Now that I'm dragging myself out of bed in the early morning again, I've been making some great progress on the novel revisions. I'm through my first pass at the all-important opening 50 pages, and I've been making myself cross-eyed changing the point of view from third to first.

So if I'm not paying attention, I get wacky sentences like "I opened his eyes as wide as he could..." or "I shook his head at Mack..."

Lots of goofy shit like that. Just the kind of thing to make an editor fling the manuscript across the room.

But it's been fun -- I've got some good ideas for fixing up the rest of the book, and now that I've actually got some momentum going, I know I'll meet my self-imposed revising/researching/reworking done-with-the-whole-shebang deadline of June 13th (my birthday).

On top of that, I've had a couple story ideas announce themselves in the past week, thanks to a couple themed anthologies looking for stories. I've not written a story in forever, so this ought to be fun. I jammed out the first 300 words of a story yesterday, and I can't wait to get back to it.

So I'm liking the writing gig again. Always a good thing.

Now to get my carcass home before the snow-filled skies try to open up and swallow me. Later!
