They thought it couldn't be done...

Nifty. Just skipped my workout on account of what appears to be sleet outside (like I need an excuse to be truant), and as a result, I was able to finish revising a brand-new story!

Well, it's not really a story, but more of a novelette, as it's about 12,500 words. And it's not really brand-new, either, but an edited version of the opening to my baseball novel. I wanted to try and make it work as a piece of short fiction, and it does now.

Just had to move this and that, delete some of that, and tweak a bit of this. And there ya go, what I thought couldn't be done -- a story from my novel that I can send out to a magazine editor. Now I can get back to novel-revising for good. Stories are fun, but diverting. Still, a sale would be nice. It's been a while...

In other news, here's a tip to new parents: if Mom is breastfeeding, don't let her eat a big bowl of bean soup. The results with the little one can be... catastrophic. Little Drew has been gassy as all get out for almost a day now.

In yet MORE news, huge congrats to fellow writers SarahP, Jim, Greg, Toby, and I'm sure a bunch more good folks who I'm forgetting, for their recent sales or agent/editorial interest! Very cool. I love seeing my friends succeed.

If you have good news, writing or otherwise please let me know in the comments section. Good mojo is contagious. Later!
