Exercise and Delicate Movements

I really, really need to make time in the mornings to get to the gym 3 times a week or so. I just got back from a lovely walk outside, hiking around the outskirts of the three interconnected parking lots of this corporate campus from hell, and I feel much, much better. Usually after lunch I start to fade and get really antsy to get outta here. So the walk is a necessity.

Now I need to get back to lifting weights again -- my arms and hands are killing me. I'm not trying to bulk up -- God no! -- just trying to get some tone and use some muscles I don't use while sitting here on my can at work.

Looks like I'll just have to get up earlier. Probably 4:15 or so, which will give me time to write, then hit the gym for about an hour from 6 to 7 on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, then it's off to work after dropping Mr. Drew off at his babysitter (he's dodged the bullet so far this week, as his other grandma watched him on Monday, then Lizzie was home sick today to watch him, so tomorrow is his first official day).

I'll start my new schedule on Friday, if I can. I need to. My carpal tunnel is a-killin' me.

The guitar-playing at night probably isn't helping, but damn, I'm loving it. I'm picking it up pretty quickly (no pun intended!), and I realized that guitar-playing is all about tiny, delicate movements, something I'm not used to (I usually bludgeon my way through things). So it's been a fun change of pace. I can sort of play "Ode to Joy" as well as a rough version of "When the Saints Go Marching In" (a song featured in my baseball novel, which is kind of nifty).

As for the novel-revising, I need to get back on it -- I've been in story mode for too long! I've got some research details to add and some connections to make in the early-going, then it's full steam ahead with parts 2 and 3.

And I just realized -- this Friday, April 1st, is when Elizabeth and I first learned that we'd be having Drew! No fooling! Too cool. Later.
