Catch-Up, with a Pair o' Shots

Well, where did the last few days go? Last time I checked it was Friday or something, and here it is, Tuesday night. I've been meaning to get caught up here for a while, but this is my first chance to do so since finishing my novel on Friday.

Saturday was a work all morning and afternoon so you canplay that night kinda day -- yardwork for me and prepping with her mom for Drew's baptism lunch for Lizzie. We didn't get a break until 5 or so, when we went to our friend Clarke's place to meet up with our old college friends, some of them all the way from DC (by way of Vancouver) and Hotlanta. There were 10 of us in all, and we hit Chapel Hill's Top of the Hill after some appetizers at Clarke's. We didn't get home 'til 1 a.m. -- I don't remember the last time we did THAT.

Then Drew had his baptism, assembly-line style, at the new chuch in Raleigh we go to (there were four other kiddoes getting dipped as well). The service was nice, but a bit LONG -- almost an hour and a half. Then it was off to Elizabeth's parents' house for lunch, with my family and hers and our friends and anyone else who may have tagged along. Drew took the high road and took a nap for most of the party.

Feel free to peruse the photos once again, as needed... ;)

Then yesterday, Lizzie and I were so beat, we both called in sick -- it was a skin-of-your-teeth sort of thing, as Lizzie was walking out to her car and on her way to the day job before changing her mind. We both needed the time off. Drew enjoyed it as well.

And finally, today we had his six-month checkup, which included a weigh-in, a measuring, and, yes, a pair of shots (which he handled remarkably well -- he screamed for a few seconds, then chilled out when he got distracted, and didn't cry anymore). I'm proud to say he's a hefty 20 lbs., 9 oz., and 27 and 3/4 inches. That's my boy. 92nd and 90th percentile, respectively, plus over 98th percentile for his big ol' noggin.

And now he's down for the evening, and we're still both a bit worn-out. It ain't easy, being sociable. And me, I'm still trying to figure out what project to pursue next, writing-wise. I'm already getting antsy, not having something to motivate me to get up at the crack of dawn to work on anymore. Must fix that! Later...
