Back at it, longhand

After cooking up what's become our standard Sunday morning breakfast -- a double batch of dollar-sized, whole-wheat pancakes with a couple tablespoons of sugar and some vanilla so Drew can munch on the leftovers for breakfast the rest of the week -- and cleaning up the kitchen, I sat down with my ragged notebook (who spilled coffee on this thing? Oh, it was me) and wrote a good two pages longhand. And it was all New Stuff!

Finally, after a month and a half off to finish Other Stuff, it's back to work on the new chapters of the novel. I may be able to finish this sucker by New Year's Eve. Which is good, because not only did I come up with a cool idea for the next novel (which is all about spaceships and aliens), but I also really want to find out how this novel ends.

Oh, and I'm bummed that I forgot about National Drunken Writing Night!

Jason some other writers did it, and I had all the tools -- an online AND some brand-new hooch! I missed my change to blog while intoxicated!

Amazingly, I got my check for my story "Meet the Madfeet" in the mail yesterday, so I splurged and bought some good Scotch at the ABC store yesterday (after we got back from a very fun afternoon with young Miss Stella and her parents Cammie and Josh, and Clarke as well -- check out the photos here). Now that's a nice turnaround time!

Nevertheless, the Scotch, it tasted goooood. And it about knocked me out -- I've not had liquor in a long time. Perhaps there's a reason for that... Later!
