Chiggers -- just because

Just finished typing in the last two morning's longhand pages. Pretty cool. I'm enjoying the longhand quite a bit now, and not just because I don't have to stare at a monitor at 4:30 in the morning.

It's the act of pen and paper -- feels much more natural than banging on keys. And the writing comes easier, for some reason. Maybe because I don't have the urge to revise and edit at every step of the way. Or maybe it's because it doesn't feel like work, and more like writing in my old-fashioned paper journal when I draft with pen and paper.

In any case, the 4 pages I've drafted so far of chapter 10 in my notebook has come out to be 8 pages double-spaced Courier, bringing me up to about 38,500 words. Some cool stuff is happening now, including an infestation of chiggers that's tormenting my protagonist. I had to use my own personal experience for that section. That was too painful for me to not include in a novel.

Good times, all around, now that I'm back on this crazy novel.

And finally, just because I have to share photos, here's Drew and me, quenching our thirst on Saturday while visiting friends:

The Jasper men, thirsty we are!

And that's it for tonight. Later!
