Sunday novelizing

Just reached the halfway point on my final run-through of the baseball novel, now that I have my Drinker story more or less finished up (just letting that story simmer a while now). I'm enjoying the hell out of this book. Some really great scenes, and the mix of characters, baseball action, history, and philosophical/religious discussions has been fun to revisit.

I just have to make sure I haven't made any dumb typos in the second half of the book, which I'll be reading this afternoon (mostly due to the switch I made from 3rd person to 1st).

Today's an incredibly mild (60 degrees!), sort of gray, rainy day here in Raleigh, a lovely day to stay inside and write or read. Drew's napping, Elizabeth's reading, and I feel like we're all catching up from the chaos of the past few months.

And me, I'm really enjoying being back in novel country. There's something rewarding about creating and developing a group of characters who you can keep coming back to and learning more about over time. Hard to believe I'll have been working on The All Nations Team for over a year and a half now (and I've had the idea for it for almost a decade!). Once I'm done with this final gloss, I think it will be my strongest novel yet. At least until I finish up the next one... ;)

Okay, back to work. Later!
