Various and Sundried

Phew -- just finishing up a busy day of working at home and getting caught up on various and sundry work projects. Also dragged myself out of bed and revised my story "Painting Haiti," which has become a much, much better story thanks to the input of an editor. I did some fun research last night on voodoo and added those details into the story, including a description of a "veve" and some laos (spirits) including Papa Legba. Fascinating stuff.

I was hoping to squeeze in a litte All Nations Team time today, between work and everything else around the house (playing with Drew between his naps and trips out with his mama), but I never did get a chance to sit down at my writing computer. I was too busy at my work laptop.

But the cool thing is, I keep coming up with ideas for enhancing scenes and adding tension and conflict, especially when it comes to my black protagonist vs. white people. Unfortunately, there is a ton of conflict to uncover in that arena.

And finally, the extra-cool news is that Lizzie, Drew, and I are off to a Durham Bulls game tonight with our neighbors, so I can get some first-hand baseball inspiration, as well as some brews and some quality time with the fam (I always feel a bit stressed on these work-at-home days, because I can't hang out with Lizzie and Drew, but it's still worth it to not commute and to hang out in shorts and a ratty old T-shirt all day). Go Bulls! Later.
