So tonight we get to try and pack enough clothes, books, and other items into our two big bags for 6 days on the road. Our adventures will include a wedding, a reading, a rehearsal dinner, and most likely a great deal of eatin' and drinkin'. Look out, fam, here we come!

I just hope we pack enough stuff to keep Drew, Mr. 20-months-old yesterday, entertained on the flight from Raleigh to Chicago, and then Chicago to Dubuque. I don't think he's gonna nap like he did on his first flight a year ago...

It'll be good to see everyone again, and I know the wedding and reception will be lovely and fun.

I think I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to read at my reading on Thursday, and I'm looking forward to at last meeting SarahP, who's road-tripping down from Iowa City to Dyersville, brave woman that she is.

And I even got up early this morning (well, okay, the cat woke me up, coughing up a hairball in front of the steps), and got some good work done on the baseball novel. I should be done tweaking the last 2/3rds of that book by month's end, I think. It's all coming together nicely, now that I have time to sit and work on it again. Can't believe August is half over already! And now, I'm outta here! Later!
