Computer-free weekend, sort of

After a busy week at work and some early mornings working on the novel, I had high hopes of continuing that eager-beaver behavior into the weekend. Even got up at 4:30. But I opened up the ol' novel file, got to chapter eight, and just didn't have the energy to plug away at it.

For some reason, I'm feeling a lot of brain drain lately, and just plain ol' fatigue. I guess it's the early hours and too much caffeine during the day, which leads to not enough sleep and restless sleep when I get it.

I type this with a mug of coffee next to me, of course.

I had plans of gathering information for the North Carolina Writing Fellowship, a windmill I like to tilt at every other year. Due November 1.

And then there's the novel revisions, and some fixes I wanted to do to the baseball novel (I think I have to be true to myself with that book and give it one more pass, revising-wise).

And I could/should probably do some work-related stuff, as I have about a dozen new or updated docs due early in November, when we launch v. 2.0 of our software at last.

But I don't feel like sitting in front of a computer today. So I'm going to do my best to just read while Drew's asleep this morning and napping this afternoon. And socializing -- we have a get-together with the neighbors this afternoon, and a birthday party with old friends tomorrow. And Drew and I hope to pay a visit to Jason around noon, while Lizzie's working.

So there's plenty of stuff to do instead of writing. Time to recharge, again.

Meanwhile, I'm going to do my best to read a lot of Little, Big by John Crowley. It's good stuff, a bit meandering, but that seems to be the point. I'm just not getting much of an impact, reading it in drips and drabs for 10-15 minutes before I go to sleep every night... Later!
