Catching up, bit by bit

We'll start with a couple links to other journal entries:

David Schwartz shares his very, very good news about selling his first novel. And the book sounds damn cool, one of those "Why didn't I think of that" ideas that I know will make for a great read. Congrats, man!

Jason Lundberg give a nice recap of our Saturday at his temporary "bachelor pad" -- Drew had a great time wandering around the grounds of his neighborhood, and I was fiercely jealous of all the trees. Jason even sold us The Wolves in the Walls by Gaiman for Drew and the most excellent-so-far The Wooden Sea by Jonathan Carroll, my first book by this author. I'm digging it, and it's inspiring me to keep at my own novel, as Carroll creates his own internal novel-logic in the book, and sticks with it throughout. Great stuff so far.

And, even more important than all that, Jason reports that his wife Janet is recovering well from surgery. Whew. Very good news.

As for us, I'm finishing up some work stuff, as I'm working from home again, due to Drew's doctor appointment. Turns out, in spite of his tubes, the poor guy has an ear infection again. One of his tubes is loose apparently, and he had a sudden fever last night of 103.7 that was not cool. So while Lizzie went off to work, it was Drew and me to the doc and then hanging out 'til she got back at lunchtime.

Also, we introduced Drew to "Wallace and Gromit" this weekend. We saw the three early shorts: "A Close Shave," "The Wrong Trousers," and whatever the last one was... He was enthralled. I was pretty amazed, too -- I don't even want to think how long it took them to put together those gadgets and stop-motion clay animation...

And finally, I'm feeling the urge to get back into writing again. This weekend I was just burned out. I hate that. I plan on diving back into the revisions, and also put together a short synopsis of it for the NC Fellowship I'm applying for.

And I'm also putting together a list of agents, again. Call me crazy. But before I mail stuff off (no more e-queries, unless I absolutely have to), I'm going to make sure what I send is as polished as I can make it.

Anyhoo. That's where I am today. Later!
