More good progress

Made some good progress this morning with the writing, even if I was tired and had trouble getting started and Drew woke up at 5:10 or so. He and Lizzie got up and watched some movies while I finished up chapter eight at last.

Here's a snippet:
Before she could draw another breath, she was in the middle of a dark forest. Leafless tree limbs reached for her as she trudged through heavy mud that sucked at her bare feet. Cold seeped from the pines surrounding her, while owls hooted out distress calls and tiny bugs dropped onto her bare arms and into her hair. A tiny voice was crying out from somewhere far in front of her.

Then Melissa was lost in all those trees, unable to move forward. She turned in a circle once, twice, three times, and stopped spinning when she saw, flaring to life miles from her inside this hellish forest, a giant oak burst into flame amid the dark green mass of pines all around it. Melissa had to close her eyes against the nightmare image.

When she opened them again, she was back home and the house was silent.
I'm trying to get in the habit of not writing a journal entry OR reading friends' journals until I get my own writing down for the day (an idea I got from Bridget McKenna). 1 out of 2 isn't bad (I can't help but click on my Friends list before I get started for the day).

Later!
