Dungeons, ears, Snowbirds, visitors

Yo. Finally got some good writing going this morning, finishing up chapter ten, a Noah chapter. I'm over halfway now, though the next chapter is a Melissa chapter, which means a lot of new stuff. Which will be good. I like writing new stuff. Haven't writeen enough good stuff lately...

Here's a snippet featuring some old and new words mixed together from this morning:
Some of the best Prince One-Eye stories took place in what dad called dungeons. Noah could never really understand why, but most castles and towers in the prince's land had deep tunnels built under them, full of strange monsters and sort-of-crazy wanderers and tons of twists and turns and secret passages.

If he had a dungeon, Noah would certainly not let monsters sneak in and live there, especially if it was right underneath his castle or tower.

Of course, Noah had right away wanted to search under their house and the store for the entrance to a dungeon. But both of the cramped crawlspace he found were disappointing -- just uneven dirt floors, cobwebs, and piles of junk and old equipment. No secret doors leading downward into more adventures. Nobody around here seemed interested in dungeons.
How could you not be interested in dungeons? Alas, our new house lacks a basement. Not even a crawlspace...

We're off in about half an hour to the Ears-Nose-Throat doctor once more, as Drew gets tubes in his ears for a second time. This is a much less stressful operation for us than it was a year ago. It's worth for the little guy not to have any ear infections -- he had zero in the past year, up until a week ago, when his old tubes slipped out and infection slipped in...

Speaking of taking off, Elizabeth and I are plotting out a long weekend in December to this place. This will be our third trip there, and while I feel like we should be more adventurous and try somewhere new, we also figured why tempt fate? This place has it all -- remote location, great rooms, a huge fireplace and common area filled with books, hiking trails, and a hot tub on the back deck. We're going in mid-December, and Drew gets to hang out with his grandparents (both sets, I think, but not at the same time, of course!).

Here's the cottage we're going to stay out (unless something changes):

And finally, it's going to be a great weekend -- my older sister and her family are coming out from Iowa! They're road-tripping their way here from Iowa right now, as we speak. Should be lots of fun. My liver is sore already... ;)

Have a great Friday, all! Later...
