Effing Nervous

In the second full week post-grad school, not much new going on, save some wardrobe and party planning. Oh, and a fun ND-Michigan weekend with Kirsten through which we drank much and met cute guys.

Went and got my long, strapless black bridesmaid dress nipped and tucked today. Gonna look pretty good, which I hate to admit surprises me. My sister's pretty traditional and I was worried the dresses might look a little drab. But nah, it's gonna be hot. Much different experience than the fitting I had this summer in DC where it took hours both times and the women were all up in my business (and by that, I mean my personal life not, well, my BIZness.) The woman today was, well, all business, didn't ask my name, barely spoke to me except to say: "Honey, you should've gotten your dress a size smaller. Lots of cutting here." Thanks. Wrack up those tailoring costs. She was a gem.

And yes, I'm still doing work -- pro-freakin-bono -- for my editors at the Times of NWI. Which better all pay off tomorrow when I go meet the editors for a job in Indy. Trying not to be nervous and working on answers ahead of time to those annoying, inevitable questions like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years? (Still broke.) and "What are your weaknesses?" (Um, that I don't have this job yet?) Stay tuned...

Christine's life (a la Harpers):

# of diplomas from best journalism grad school in U.S.: 1

# of job offers: 0

# of job interviews: 1

# of bridesmaid dresses altered: 1

# of fellow bridesmaids driving me nuts: 2

# of wicker baskets I glued pink and white ribbon to today: 1

(oh yeah, I'm not even kidding about that last one)
