last night i dreamt of A.S. and i want to get it down here before i forget it.

t and i were on a subway somewhere and she said to me, "that girl looks like A". i looked across from us and it was in fact A and she looked beautiful. i got up and walked over to her and she looked at her travelling compaion as though she didnt know who the strange girl approaching her was. i said "skippy?" and she knew who i was and she smiled. though she was smiling the whole time, she seemed like she wasn't there. i updated her on everybody and she listened. the train slowed down and the she kissed me and said "you were the only one". then she got off the train. when i looked around, no one else was left but me. then i realized that she said "you are the only one", but this did not make me feel any better.

i know this was parially influenced by reading peter straub's ghost story again recently. in it, our hero wakes up to find his lady friend (who may or may not be evil incarnate) staring out the window into the fog. he asks her whats wrong and she says "i saw a ghost". later he realizes she said "i am a ghost". even later in the book he is forced to admit that she may have in fact said "you are a ghost".

this has always creeped me out to no end.
