here is an entry from our (mine and t's) journal we kept together from the genesis of our california plan. this is from arkansas, shortly after the tailpipe falling off of the truck outside of nashville:

"In the dark northwest corner of the state, in the home stretch to oklahoma on route 40, our heroines notice a strange object in the headlights on the road before them. Lola thought possibly the car before them had tossed a bag of steaming hot food out their window. Hunnee wasn't sure, but thought from the golden spray that was being emitted that it was some kind of flare or firework. About 10 seconds after the carriage of their truck passed over this mystery blank (I can't make out t's writing), the horrible reality hit them: a recently struck skunk had sprayed his dying stink jizz all over the truck.

This was bad.

Lola and Hunnee also made note of the plethora of strange attractions in this bizarro southern netherworld...Frozen Head State Park, Toad Suck Park, Roman Nose State Park...my god, what had they gotten themselves into???

Later that evening...

In a confused (though surprisingly not drug-fueled) phone call to their main man in L.A., Bosley, Lola and Hunnee tried desperately to relay the days adventures, but to no avail. Whether through a haze of drugs or sheer ignorance, Bosley became convinced that someone had thrown a skunk out of their car at the pink disco mobile, resulting in the foul odor that encompassed them now. After much clarification all was right with the world again. And, stinky and sore from laughing, they moved forward."

Always better together.
