in reading about hindu mythology, i realized that i really like the idea of reincarnation. i do not, however, like the idea that you don't get to remember your past lives. no sir, i don't like it at all.

while reading these books, i also saw the greta garbo movie "queen christina". (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0024481/) there is one amazing scene where she is stranded at an inn and must share a room with a guy who has no idea who she is (the queen of sweden, circa 1600 or so). for that night she is able to just be a woman in a room with a man, free of her usual responsibilities and political dealings. at one point, she is walking around the room, touching a painting, hugging the bedpost, etc, and john gilbert asks her what she's doing. in that glorious accent she says "I have been memorizing this room. In the future, in my memory, I shall live a great deal in this room." that scene kills me.

so, in that spirit, i have started to take pictures of thise strange things in my life that have made me happy. maybe i can carry those images with me into the next life if i appreciate them enough...

these first few are things that have delighted me since childhood:

the hall of birds at the everhart museum. i was sad to see that they no longer have the dodo. it was my favorite. but all these other birds are rad and just a bit creepy

the word "marvy" spray painted on this overpass. i can't really believe how long this has been around. its on the other side too, along with "led zep".

rocky glen park. so fun when we were young. now just concrete and ghosts.

and this tile place. for some reaon, i find the order of the tiles and colors really relaxing.
