Games as reified ritual- a correspondant in Minnesota

I do not connect to games in real life very well, and can't imagine pursuing them with strangers. I mean literal games, such as chess, board games, etc.

The ontology of games as reified ritual has a very different meaning to me, [than about systematising qualitative experience]. If pressed, I would say that the *true* game leaves no time or energy to discuss it at a meta level...i.e. self consciousness of the game aspect immediately disqualifies it. You might understand that remark better if I make the analogy with drawing: A drawing suffers to the extent that the drawer is conscious of the process while executing it. The kind of teaching that occurs in formalized contexts these days is so top heavy with self consciousness that it leaves no room for losing yourself in the quiddity of the gesture.

So I encourage you to lose. I am certainly lost. No doubt about that!
