The pink slip for Treppy arrived today. Shall I send it to you?

I imagine that we're both in the same boat, working 12 hour days. I have been imagining your conquest of Iowa, charming the socks off all your colleagues and clients. Soon we will have news reports on CBS detailing the sudden epidemic of abandoned socks on the highways and byways of downtown Des Moines and rural cornfields for hundreds of miles in all directions. All due to your charm and wit and intelligence. Huzzah!

We have a "drop dead" day this Sunday. 'Nuff said on that score.

I've pretty much recovered from my upset over the abysmal lack of foresight and dearth of intelligent leadership and organization. This is the school district--what else should I have expected? But I'm an optimist and I always expect that things will improve. Me and Candide--every day in every way the world is getting better and better.

At least it has been accepted by management that routing was "going slower than expected." There's an understatement, if ever I heard one. And we here in the trenches are pretty much back to the way it used to be, routing by the supervisors and getting it done. They are amazing in a crisis. Cry and whine like babies when things are going normally, with a bump here and there--but let the stuff hit the fan and they hunker down and make it happen with only an occasional grumble.

Myron says, "It's not a good year to be a planner." Glad someone noticed.

The weather is still deliciously cool, overcast in the mornings and mid-70's in the afternoons. Would that it could be like this all year round! But then we'd probably get bored. Nah. I could deal with gorgeous weather every day of the year--throw in a few snow days and I'm a happy camper.

Gotta go make the world safe for transporting students.
Love you little, love you big
Mamela
