The first notification of company cutbacks for the new few months was a short, concise statement of two paragraphs, arranged fetchingly on a full sheet of paper with official heading, official format and a long list of cc's.

Today's notification said not much more, but did so in a three-page document, and a longer list of cc's.

That's progress. If you explain it more fully, you've gone a long way towards resolving it, I guess.

Obviously I'm not management material, since I'd be out there drawing up plans and consulting with customers, not writing memos to more fully explain what is as clear as it could be the first time.

To be management, you need to say things at length, with as much gravitas as possible, and lots of words.
