Christmas Resolution: Progress
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

My Christmas resolution is partly accomplished, and I'm feeling very good about it. I've done the east wall bookcase (yes, there are more books elsewhere), the desk (papers galore), the chest of drawers, and I'm working on the window that has the air conditioner and cat door.

The cats come in off the roof, through the cat door, bounce off the shoe caddy, and from there to one of several surfaces or the floor. It really looks scruffy, thanks to the fact that SO measured the plexiglass incorrectly and so it's patched together. And thanks to the cats, who track in dirt and ferry in captured leaves and small (usually dead) animals.

In the winter, I can cover the a/c, of course, but I have to leave a small corner of the window bare to let the cats come and go. I made a cafe curtain with spring rod, and then pinned back a flap. It's not elegant, but it covers up the worst of the shoddy workmanship.

If the cats are OK with it, I'll hem the curtain (it's just pinned now) and clean up the area around the window (cat tracks and leaves and such). If they're freaked out and refuse to use it, I'm not sure what I will do. I will not leave it looking as it did.

Then on to the computer station. Horrors! I can hardly face it, nests of wires, papers, CDs, pens and pencils, notebooks.

A real test of my organizational skills.
