The secret to unstructured days (as in vacation, furlough, or retirement), is, I think, in settling upon one or two major tasks ahead of time, and then letting the little stuff and the relaxation stuff kind of fill in gracefully, in between.

So, for instance today, getting the car smogged and paying Norm's bills.

And for tomorrow, visiting the VA and paying the household bills (the greater part of the cash flow).

And contacting our tax man to get an extension for filing.

That should leave time to read and leisure to croon sweet nothings to my newly planted tomatoes, but still establish a goal for productivity and a reason to get up in the morning (besides saying hello to the new day in meditation).
