Don't Know Whether to Laugh or Cry

The VA just called with followup questions about how is he doing after being hospitalized in March. How is he feeling? Can he walk, bathe, dress, etc?

I told her that, at the moment, he was back in the hospital, one floor down from where he was in March. And that he was completely disabled. She thought he was home and doing OK. Don't these people ever communicate with each other or read the chart before talking to the family?

Her questions were all about his current condition and I had to re-visit the whole desperate, scary, exhausting situation all over again. Now I'm sitting here, teary-eyed and amused at the same time--the information clearly took the caller by surprise, but she was very supportive and sympathetic.

Back to my previously scheduled program--laundry.
